She and he – 3rd chapter

He went to the room which smelt of his children, the football lying in the corner and the bat on the mat. He lied next to his little daughter who wanted to cuddle someone because of the cold room, she would never keep her blanket on her. He kissed her small hands and wrapped his arms around her, she cozily smiled. His wife was used to his indifference and she slept beside him, knowing that he had million thoughts running in his mind. He thought of the day he had first seen her, she had walked out of her home wearing her school dress, white shirt and grey skirt which was hardly covering her knees. Her hair was tied in two plats, she was adjusting her lipstick in the rearview mirror (was she even allowed to have lipstick in school) and suddenly she looked up at his balcony and immediately jumped in her grey Maruti car. Only if he could know what she was thinking, why hadn’t he seen this girl before and who was she?. He woke up to the sound of his children refusing to drink their milk and he knew it was time to get back into reality. As his wife was struggling to get the kids ready to school and he had to drop them off.

Today she felt happy, there was joy in her steps. She greeted everybody on her way and smiled at those unknown to her. She tidied up her table, she adjusted the white flowers she bought outside in her vase. She loved the smell of the musky flowers, she loved her cabin which had her textbooks, her earphone, her glass bottle. There was something about plastic bottles she hated. Her timetable looked relaxed today. She was flipping through her wats app messages and she saw updates from him. How could she see his update, oh god! She was so excited, wats app had a new feature if you have have someone’s number saved, you could see that person’s status. Somehow she had just saved his old number after so many years, because she had been thinking of him too much lately. She could not control her excitement, she updated her status. A quote which said

“Maana ke hum yaar nahin
Lo tay hai ke pyaar nahin

Phir bhi nazrein na tum milaana
Dil ka aitbaar nahi”

Thus began the war of words.
